Edinson Cavani bids farewell to Boca Juniors: imminent contract termination

According to Germán García Grova, Edinson Cavani and Boca Juniors have reached an agreement to terminate his contract, which was set to expire in December 2026.
Edinson Cavani, 39-year-old Uruguayan forward, leaves Boca Juniors after a verbal agreement to rescind his contract. Germán García Grova reports that the decision comes after the coach, Rodolfo Martín Arruabarrena, did not consider him.
Cavani, whose market value is €500,000, has faced health issues and will undergo back surgery, keeping him off the field for three months. However, he is not thinking about retirement and aims to continue his career.
The termination is formalized after both parties reached an understanding. César Luis Merlo and Nicolò Schira also confirmed the breakup of the contract. Boca Juniors now begins the search for a new striker.
Cavani leaves as a free agent, concluding a contract that was set to expire at the end of 2026, with the intention of finding a new club to continue playing.
