Chelsea and Aston Villa advance in the signing of Morgan Rogers for £117 million

According to David Ornstein, Chelsea has reached a verbal agreement with Aston Villa for the signing of Morgan Rogers. The London club has accepted a bid of £117 million.
Chelsea is one step away from closing the signing of Morgan Rogers, a 23-year-old attacking midfielder, after reaching a verbal agreement with Aston Villa. The information was initially reported by David Ornstein, who confirmed that the £117 million offer has been accepted by the Birmingham club.
Rogers, who currently plays for Aston Villa, has a contract that runs until June 30, 2031, and his market value is €90 million. His versatility, being equally effective as a left winger and as an attacking midfielder, makes him a valuable addition for Chelsea, which is looking to strengthen its squad.
The operation would mark a significant step for Chelsea in its ambition to compete for titles, while Aston Villa could benefit from a considerable capital injection that could be used to restructure its own team. Although several media outlets have confirmed the agreement, including James Pearce and Ben Jacobs, medical examinations and contract signing are still expected in the coming days.
Fabrizio Romano has also highlighted that Chelsea moved quickly to outpace a potential Arsenal bid, underscoring the competition in the race for the young talent. The agreement includes a sell-on clause that will benefit Middlesbrough, the club that will receive £15 million as part of the deal.
