A clásico that lacks shine

Cerro Largo and Liverpool Montevideo drew 1-1 in a match that raised more questions than answers. In a clásico with 27 previous encounters, where the visitor had won 16 times, the result does not satisfy either side in the race for qualification to the next round.

The first half saw Liverpool as the dominant team, opening the scoring in the 43rd minute with a goal from Rubén Bentancourt. However, the home side quickly responded, equalizing in the 51st minute thanks to Axel Pandiani, who leveled the score after a more intense start to the second half.

A draw that complicates matters

With this result, Cerro Largo remains in 10th place in the table with 31 points, while Liverpool Montevideo, although still in contention, stays in 7th place with 38 points. The fight for qualification tightens, and both teams know that every point counts in this group stage.

Interestingly, despite having clearer dominance in the first half, Liverpool could not maintain the lead. This draw leaves Cerro Largo needing to improve in the upcoming matches if they want to aspire to continue in the tournament.
