However, the situation became even more complicated for Atenas when they received a red card in the 90+3', finishing the match with ten men in the final moments. Penarol seized the opportunity and, in a dramatic twist, managed to level the score at 2-2, thus keeping their qualification hopes alive in the Copa Uruguay.
